The 200,000 people a month who visit estate agency Internet
website Homes-On-Line can now receive an instant idea of how
much their home is worth and receive impartial mortgage advice
following a link between the portal site and 'Your Mortgage'
magazine.
The
agreement comes only just over a month after Homes-On-Line announced
it had linked with national estate agency relocation and referral
group Partners In Property to offer a free 'in person' valuation
service to potential vendors.
Under
the latest initiative, visitors to the Homes-On-Line site at
www.homesonline.com can receive an estimated value of their
property based on latest data supplied by the Land Registry
simply by entering their post code. In addition to giving them
an idea of the value of their home, the link also projects what
the property could be worth every quarter until the year 2005
by using a projection of average house price data supplied by
the Land Registry.
Homes-On-Line
Managing Director Guy Baker said: "Although the new service
will not give the precise value of a property, it will give
visitors to the site a good indication and will hopefully lead
to potential vendors requesting a professional valuation through
our link with Partners in Property. It is another step forward
in making it easier for people to move home."
Guy Baker also announced that the service Homes-On-Line provides
to estate agents and members of the public has also improved.
Following
the move of its server to Telehouse, the heart of the UK Internet
in Docklands, the site now shares computer space with household
names such as the BBC, the London Stock Exchange and NTL. The
move means that the Homes-On-Line site will now run faster and
offer more security, reliability and flexibility for both estate
agents and members of the public.
Homes-On-Line
was launched in 1996 and is the only privately owned property
portal website of any size in the UK. In addition to providing
information and advice to purchasers and home owners on all
aspects of buying, selling and owning a property, it also has
a database of more than 73,000 homeowners and prospective purchasers
who subscribe to the site's regular monthly electronic newsletter.
